Carnival Celebration – Tuesday, February 25th

Dear ICSAtlanta Parents,

Our annual celebration of Carnival is right around the corner!  We will celebrate Carnival on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in our language classrooms. Please note, if your child is not participating in the outlined dress-up options, your child needs to come to school in his/her school uniform. Additionally, please keep in mind that leggings or form-fitting pants of any material type are not considered pants. In other words, if your child chooses to wear leggings, they must wear appropriately-length shorts or skirts over them.

Spanish:As Carnival in Spanish-speaking countries is typically very colorful, students in the Spanish track may dress in jeans with colorful t-shirts. Students will create masks in their classes.

French:

Students in the French track are encouraged to dress up as knights, queens, and kings.

German:

Students in the German track may dress as children do for Carnival in the German-speaking countries. Costumes are usually simple and may involve some face paint. Masks are not typically needed (e.g. instead of wearing a lion mask, the face would be painted as a lion face). Please remember that costumes should be funny/happy rather than scary.

Here are some suggestions

Jobs (e.g. baker, police officer, firefighter, etc.)

Animals (e.g. cat, lion, panda, etc.)

Magical (e.g. witch, wizard, fairy, etc.)

Story or Book Characters (e.g. princess, prince, Pippi Longstocking, etc.)

Mandarin:

Choose one of the options above.

Please note:

– Students are not allowed to bring toy weapons (e.g. swords, knives, guns, etc).

– Whole-face masks are also not allowed.

Clinic Note – In Need of Clothes!

Hey Parents!
See below a note from our school nurse, Ms. Samantha!
If you have any items that were sent home from the clinic, please clean and return any clothing that was borrowed as we are missing many items.
The lower campus clinic is in need of regular fit, navy or khaki uniform pants, in sizes ranging from 6 to 14. If you have any uniforms that you are able to donate, please send them in with your student labeled for the Nurse/Clinic. Please only send in items requested.
Thank you!

Fall Winter Dress Code Reminder

Hello Kindergarten Parents,
As fall has arrived, the Kindergarten team wanted to send a gentle reminder about cool-weather uniform requirements. Please keep the following in mind when you send your little ones to school dressed for warmth:
(1) Only ICSAtlanta approved indoor-outerwear can be worn in the building.  Any jacket/coat/sweatshirt that is non-uniform compliant can only be worn outside (when students go to recess, participate in outdoor activities, or leave at the end of the day).
(2) Students are not allowed to wear long-sleeve shirts under their uniform Polos.  If they arrive to school with long-sleeve undershirts, they will be sent to the nurse to change out of the undershirt.
(3) Boots are not uniform-compliant.
(4) Tights should be navy-blue or black only; designs or different colors are not allowed.  No cropped leggings are allowed–they must go all the way to the ankle and match the socks worn (no skin should be showing).
Please let us know if you have any questions. For your convenience you can access the uniform policy found on our school website by clicking the link below.
